Community Facilities Improvement Program

The Community Facilities Improvement Program (CFIP) invests in community projects, initiated by local not-for-profit organizations, which enhance public use of existing facilities. The program will pay up to 75% of the total eligible costs, up to a maximum grant of $50,000.

Projects that are eligible for this grant program include necessary structural repairs to meet building code requirements, upgrades to bathrooms, roof repairs/replacement, window/door replacement, furnace/heating system replacement, and other capital projects. Only one project per fiscal year will be eligible. All projects must be completed by January 15th, 2018.

Eligible organizations must demonstrate the following:

  • is a registered not-for-profit organization in good standing with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies;
  • operates primarily for community, culture and heritage benefit; and
  • provides programs that serve a broader community and not strictly the organization’s membership.

Applications must be received by midnight February 28th, 2017. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Please note, funding for this program is pending 2017-18 budget approval.
