Meet Ben

Ben was first elected to the Nova Scotia Legislature in June 2013 and was re-elected in 2017 and 2021. Ben is proud to call Hammonds Plains-Lucasville home.

In September 2021, Ben was appointed the Liberal critic for Advanced Education and Military Relations. He has served on numerous committees, including Veterans Affairs, Private & Local Bills, and Public Accounts. He also served in cabinet as Minister of the Public Service Commission.

Deeply rooted for more than 30 years as a resident, student, athlete, coach, church member, and volunteer, Ben is well connected with extended family members residing in subdivisions throughout the district. He has a firm understanding of the issues faced by families and organizations in the community.

He has been an effective advocate for the community to the Province. He has achieved this by actively engaging with communities through the local ratepayers associations, parent-teacher associations, student advisory councils, church congregations, athletic and recreation organizations and community groups.

Ben attended elementary, junior, and senior high school in the district before going on to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management from Acadia.
