Apply now: Seniors’ Property Tax Rebate

The deadline is approaching to apply for the Seniors’ Property Tax Rebate. This program helps seniors living on lower incomes with their municipal residential property taxes by offering eligible seniors a rebate of up to $800.

Rapid tests now available at public libraries

As of December 13th, Nova Scotians can pick up COVID-19 rapid test kits at public libraries across the province. There are 400,000 tests available. They are packaged in kits of five, and there is a limit of one kit per person. The tests can be used at home for people ages three and up.

Province taking action to reduce waste

Changes are coming to how solid waste is managed in Nova Scotia which will reduce waste in our landfills and create a greener and healthier environment.

Seniors Care Grant: Apply for help with household costs

As of December 1st, you can apply for the Seniors Care Grant. This grant provides up to $500 in funding for eligible Nova Scotians aged 65 years and older who need help around their homes. Covered expenses include snow removal, small household repairs, lawn care, grocery delivery and other needs.

Hammonds Plains Fire Station Christmas food drive

The Hammonds Plains Fire Station is continuing to support our community and local food banks this year with their annual food drive as a drop and go. Be sure to stop by the Hammonds Plains Fire Station – 2050 Hammonds Plains Road on December 5th to drop off a donation and help reach the community goal of filling a 9000 litre water port-a-tank with donations!

Every November, the Movember charity kicks off its annual advocacy campaign to highlight the important issue of men’s health.

Rent control extended to 2023

I will continue to advocate on behalf of all my constituents, renters specifically, to ensure that all the people of Hammonds Plains-Lucasville have an affordable place to live.
