The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is looking for our help. In September of 2023, two new schools under one roof on Broad Street will open their doors to students. The planning phase of establishing boundaries for the Pre-Primary to Grade 8 school is currently underway, and as plans are finalized, the HRCE is hoping for your input on the following items:
• Proposed Pre-Primary to Grade 8 boundary;
• Proposed grade configurations at some schools;
• The idea of families choosing where they want their child to attend high school (CPA OR the new Broad Street school).
Everyone is invited, including students, staff, families, and community members in the CPA Family of Schools, to share feedback on their proposals through their Virtual Town Hall. Facilitation is through an online platform called ThoughtExchange that is being used to collect your feedback. It’s available anytime, accessible, and anonymous. We want to hear from you! In September 2023, two new schools under one roof on Broad Street will open their doors to students.
The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is currently in the planning phase of establishing boundaries for the Pre-Primary to Grade 8 school. At the high school level, we are considering a different approach to boundaries; one that gives families a choice.
Defining these boundaries and reconfiguring grades in some schools will allow us to address the growing enrolment pressures within the Charles P. Allen Family of Schools (CPA FOS).
There is a lot to consider as we finalize these plans – and we want your input!
We invite everyone, including students, staff, families, School Advisory Councils, and community members in the CPA FOS to share feedback on our proposals. This Virtual Town Hall allows you to participate in multiple ways, and more than once.
We know you will have lots of innovative ideas on all kinds of topics – but hold those thoughts! Right now, we’re only looking for your thoughts on the following:
Proposed Pre-Primary to Grade 8 boundary;
Proposed grade configurations at some schools; and the idea of families choosing where they want their child to attend high school (CPA OR the new Broad Street school).
Once boundaries and grade configurations are established, you will have opportunities to share your thoughts on other topics.

We’re using an online platform called ThoughtExchange to collect your feedback. Think of it as an ongoing conversation among the community. You can contribute ideas and opinions, see what others have offered, and rate the comments. It’s available any time, it’s accessible, and it’s anonymous.
